Abstract
Stroke is a disease due to circulatory disorders of the brain which is influenced by many risk factors. Data reported according to the International Classification of Disease quoted from the United States National Vital Statistics Report in 2011 from 100,000 sufferers the average death rate caused by stroke is 41.4%. The prevalence of stroke in Indonesia reaches 8.3% of the 1000 Asian population, this makes Indonesia ranked first with the highest stroke incidence. Methods: This scientific paper uses a literature review method using 5 journals including international journals published in the last five years with a cross sectional design. Results: Based on the results of research from the five journals obesity was found in stroke patients with significant results related. Analysis: Based on the results of the journals from the five journals, the results showed that there was a relationship between obesity and the incidence of stroke with a range of p-value = 0.01 – 0.05. Conclusion : Obesity has a significant relationship with the incidence of stroke due to obesity (obesity), which is rapidly becoming a major problem of stroke with recently proven independent factor for stroke. Using body mass index (BMI) as a variable, the researchers found that subjects participating in the US Physicians Health Study with a BMI greater than 27.8 kg had a significantly greater risk of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Thus obesity is strongly associated with the incidence of stroke.
