Abstract
ABSTRAK Pada proses pembatikan menghasilkan limbah cair yang berwarna keruh dan pekat serta padatan tersuspensi yang tinggi. Apabila air limbah batik tidak diolah dengan benar maka berdampak terhadap kesehatan manusia dan penurunan kualitas lingkungan. Sehingga perlu dilakukan pengolahan dengan metode koagulasiflokulasi dengan menambahkan dosis koagulan alami biji asam jawa (Tamarindus Indica). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas biji asam jawa (Tamarindus Indica) sebagai koagulan alami dalam menurunkan kadar TSS pada limbah cair industri batik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pre-experiment dengan desain penelitian yaitu one group pre test-post test design. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode koagulasiflokasi dengan variasi dosis koagulan 2 gram, 4 gram, dan 6 gram. Pengadukan cepat dilakukan selama 5 menit dengan kecepatan putaran 150 rpm dan pengadukan lambat dilakukan selama 3 menit dengan kecepatan putaran 30 rpm. Analisis data menggunakan analisis desktiptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata penurunan dan efektivitas kadar TSS variasi dosis 2 gram, 4 gram, dan 6 gram yaitu 260 mg/l atau 11,56%, 188,87 mg/l atau 55,95%, dan 96,62 mg/l atau 67,13%. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan dosis optimum koagulan alami yang paling efektif dalam menurunkan kadar TSS yaitu 6 gram dengan rata-rata penurunan 96,62 mg/l dan efektivitas penurunan sebesar 67,13%. Saran pada penelitian ini yaitu perlu dilakukan pengolahan limbah cair dengan metode koagulasi-flokulasi menggunakan variasi dosis dan alternatif koagulan lainnya. If liquid waste is not properly treated, it could effect on human health and decrease environmental quality. So it is necessary to combine coagulation-floculation by adding natural coagulation from tamarind seeds (Tamarindus Indica). The purpose of this study id determine the effectiveness of tamarind seeds as a natural coagulan in decreasing Total Suspended Solid (TSS) of batik industrial’s liquid waste. The type of research is pre-experiment with one group pre test-post test design. The research was conducted using coagulation-flokulation methods with variations coagulant dosis 2 gram, 4 gram, and 6 gram. Fast stirring was done for 5 minutes with a rotation speed of 150 rpm and slow stirring was done for 3 minutes with a rotation speed of 30 rpm. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The result showed that average reductions Total Suspended Solids (TSS) levels variations dosis of 2 grams, 4 grams, and 6 grams are 260 mg/l or 11.56%, 188.87 mg/l or 55.95%, and 96.62 mg/l or 67.13%. The result showed that the optimum dose of natural coagulation is most effective in decreasing Total Suspended Solids (TSS) levels is 6 gram 6 grams with an average reduction of 96.62 mg/l and a reduction effectiveness of 67.13%. The advice from this research is wastewaters need a treatment with a coaguation-flokulasion methods using a variation of a coagulant dose and other coagulant alternatives.
