Abstract
ABSTRAK Air bersih penting bagi kehidupan manusia. Akan menimbulkan dampak apabila salah satu parameter melebihi baku mutu salah satunya Fe. Fe yang tinggi akan berdampak pada kesehatan dan juga lingkungan seperti menimbulkan bercak kuning pada pakaian, iritasi pada kulit dan mata. Sehingga perlu dikelola untuk menurunkan Fe, salah satu cara yaitu dengan menggunakan arang aktif kulit singkong (Manihot esculenta) karena didalam kulit singkong mengandung Selulosa yang dapat menyerap logam. Dilingkungan masyarakat kulit singkong (Manihot esculenta) belum dimanfaatkan dengan baik, sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menurunkan Fe pada air dengan dijadikan arang aktif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh arang aktif pada kulit singkong (Manihot esculenta) dalam menurunkan Fe pada air bersih menggunakan variasi ketebalan arang aktif kulit singkong (Manihot esculenta). Jenis penelitian ini adalah pra eksperiment dengan desain penelitian yaitu The One Group Pretest-Postest Only Desain menggunakan variasi ketebalan media adsorbsi yaitu 85 cm, 90 cm, 95 cm dan 9 replikasi dalam setiap ketebalan. Volume sampel yang dibutuhkan dalam setiap perlakuan sebesar 6 liter dengan waktu 60 menit. Hasil penelitian kadar besi (Fe) sebelum perlakuan sebesar 9,79 mg/l. Setelah perlakuan menggunakan ketebalan arang aktif kulit singkong (Manihot esculenta) 85 cm, 90 cm, 95 cm diperoleh hasil sebesar 3,90 mg/l (39,84%), 6,91 (70,65%) mg/l, 9,65 mg/l (98,63%). Dengan demikian ketebalan arang aktif kulit singkong (Manihot esculenta) berpengaruh dalam menurunkan kadar besi (Fe). Pada peneliti selanjutnya disarankan menggunakan variasi waktu untuk mengetahui efektivitas waktu dalam menurunkan kadar besi (Fe) dan pengolahan selanjutnya seperti sedimentasi dan penyerapan warna untuk mencegah keruh pada air. There will be an impact if one of the parameters exceeds the quality standard, one of which is Fe. High Fe will have an impact on health and the environment such as causing yellow spots on clothing, irritation to the skin and eyes. So it needs to be managed to reduce Fe, one way is to use cassava peel activated charcoal (Manihot esculenta) because cassava peel contains cellulose which can absorb metals. In the community environment, cassava peel (Manihot esculenta) has not been utilized properly, so it can be used to reduce Fe in water by making activated charcoal. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of activated charcoal on cassava skin (Manihot esculenta) in reducing Fe in clean water using variations thickness of activated charcoal cassava skin (Manihot esculenta). This type of research is a pre-experiment with a research design, namely The One Group Pretest-Postest Only Design using variations in the thickness of the adsorbing media, which are 85 cm, 90 cm, 95 cm and 9 replications in each thickness. The sample volume required in each treatment is 6 liters with a time of 60 minutes. The results of the study of ferrum (Fe) levels before treatment was 9.79 mg/l. After treatment using cassava peel activated charcoal thickness (Manihot esculenta) 85 cm, 90 cm, 95 cm obtained results of 3.90 mg/l (39.84%), 6.91 (70.65%) mg/l, 9.65 mg/l (98.63%). Therefore, the thickness of cassava peel activated charcoal (Manihot esculenta) has an effect in reducing ferrum (Fe) levels. Future researchers are advised to use time variations to determine the effectiveness of time in reducing ferrum (Fe) levels and further processing such as sedimentation and color absorption to prevent murky water.
