Abstract

ABSTRAK Salah satu kegiatan industri di Indonesia yaitu industri tahu yang menggunakan bahan baku kedelai dan air. Apabila limbah cair industri tahu tidak diolah dan dibuang langsung ke sungai dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi lingkungan. Limbah cair industri tahu memiliki kadar BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) tinggi dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan. Salah satu upaya untuk mengurangi kadar BOD di perairan yaitu fitoremediasi. Salah satu tanaman digunakan untuk metode fitoremediasi yaitu eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kadar BOD sebelum dan setelah fitoremediasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah kadar BOD limbah cair industri tahu dengan menggunakan remediasi eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes). Penelitian ini menggunakan variasi hari yaitu 7, 10, 13, 16, 19 dengan 2 kali replikasi dan volume air limbah 15 liter. Hasil penelitian yaitu kadar BOD sebelum perlakuan 389 mg/l. Penurunan kadar BOD limbah cair industri tahu setelah fitoremediasi remediasi eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes) pada hari ke 7 44,6%, hari ke 10 49,9%, hari ke 13 52,4%, hari ke 16 57%, hari ke 19 64%. Penurunan terbesar terjadi pada hari ke 19 dan telah memenuhi syarat PerMen LH No 15 Tahun 2008. Untuk industri tahu yang bersangkutan dapat menggunakan metode ini jika belum ada biaya untuk membangun IPAL. Sedanglan untuk penelitian selanjutnya dapat menggunakan limbah yang diambil di badan air yang mengandung bahan organik industri tahu. One of the plants used for the phytoremediation method is water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes). The purpose of this study was to determine BOD levels before and after phytoremediation. This research is a descriptive research. The subject of this study was the BOD content of tofu industrial wastewater using water hyacinth remediation (Eichhornia crassipes). This study used variations of days, namely 7, 10, 13, 16, 19 with 2 replications and a volume of 15 liters of wastewater. The results of the study were the BOD levels before treatment of 389 mg/l. Reduction of BOD levels of tofu industrial wastewater after water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) phytoremediation on day 7 44.6%, day 10 49.9%, day 13 52.4%, day 16 57%, day 19 64%. The biggest decrease occurred on the 19th day and has met the requirements of Minister of Environment Regulation No. 15 of 2008. For the tofu industry concerned, this method can be used if there is no cost to build an WWTP. Meanwhile, for further research, it is possible to use waste taken from water bodies containing organic matter for the tofu industry.
