Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan industri batik yang semakin meningkat akan menjadikan peningkatan pula dipenggunaan bahan baku sehingga dapat berpotensi menjadi limbah batik. Penggunaan bahan-bahan kimia dapat menyebabkan limbah batik memiliki kandungan warna, BOD, dan COD yang tinggi. Kandungan BOD dan COD yang tinggi diatas baku mutu Pergub Jatim No.72 Tahun 2013 menandakan terjadinya pencemaran air yang mengakibatkan menurunnya kualitas air dan membahayakan makhluk hidup di perairan. Sebagian besar perusahaan batik skala kecil tidak memiliki IPAL untuk mengolah limbah sehingga air limbah langsung dibuang ke badan air sungai. Metode fitoremediasi digunakan dalam penelitian ini dikarenakan sederhana dan efisien. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan kayu apu (pistia stratiotes) dalam menurunkan kadar BOD dan COD pada air limbah batik. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dengan tiga variasi hari yaitu hari-3, hari ke-6, dan hari ke-9 dengan volume air 16 liter, masing masing dengan 3 replikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode fitoremediasi selama hari ke-3 mampu menurunkan kadar BOD sebesar 57,7% , hari ke-6 sebesar 82,1% , hari ke-9 sebesar 85,22% dan kadar COD pada hari ke-3 sebesar 47,8% , hari ke-6 sebesar 69,41% , hari ke-9 sebesar 76,5%. Pada penelitian ini variasi hari yang paling efektif adalah hari ke-9 yang mampu menurunkan kadar BOD sebesar 85,22% dan kadar COD sebesar 76,5%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin lama hari pada proses fitoremediasi berpengaruh terhadap proses penurunan kadar BOD dan COD pada limbah industri batik. The use of chemicals can cause batik waste to contain high levels of color, BOD and COD. High levels of BOD and COD above the quality standards of East Java Governor Regulation No. 72 of 2013 indicate water pollution which results in decreased water quality and endangers living things in the waters. Most of the small-scale batik companies do not have an IPAL to treat waste, so the waste water is directly discharged into river bodies of water. The phytoremediation method was used in this study because it is simple and efficient. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using apu wood (pistia stratiotes) in reducing BOD and COD levels in batik wastewater. This type of research used descriptive research with three variations of days, namely day-3, day-6, and day-9 with a volume of 16 liters of water, each with 3 replications. The results of this study indicate that the use of the phytoremediation method during day 3 was able to reduce BOD levels by 57.7%, day 6 by 82.1%, day 9 by 85.22% and COD levels on day 3 of 47.8%, the 6th day of 69.41%, the 9th day of 76.5%. In this study, the most effective day variation was the 9th day which reduced BOD levels by 85.22% and COD levels by 76.5%. The results of this study indicate that the longer days in the phytoremediation process affect the process of decreasing BOD and COD levels in batik industrial waste.
