Abstract
Kebersihan gigi dan mulut yang buruk dapat menjadi salah satu faktor resiko timbulnya berbagai penyakit di rongga mulut. Kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada anak berkebutuhan khusus (tunarungu) butuh penanganan yang lebih daripada anak normal lainnya sehingga perlu adanya peran orangtua sebagai pengasuh, pendidik, pendorong, dan pengawas dalam memelihara kesehatan gigi dan mulut bagi anak anak mereka. Hasil pemeriksaan indeks plak PHP siswa- siswi SLB Karya Mulia II Surabaya sebagian besar termasuk dalam katagori buruk . Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan peran orangtua dalam memelihara kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak tunarungu terhadap status indeks plak di SLB Karya Mulia II Surabaya Tahun 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian observasional analitik dengan jumlah responden sejumlah 29 siswa dan orangtuanya. Peran orangtua diukur dengan menggunakan kuisioner dan indeks plak diukur dengan menggunakan data pemeriksaan Indeks Plak PHP. Hasil penelitian dengan Uji Chi-Square diperoleh Asym.sig (2-sided) 0,26 dan Asym.Sig (1-sided) 0,19. Oleh karena ρ Value < 0,05 maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima yang artinya terdapat hubungan antara peran orangtua dalam memelihara kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak tunarungu terhadap status indeks plak di SLB Karya Mulia II Surabaya tahun 2019.
