Abstract
This is a conyinuation of a study some years ago, on the use of Copper as a larvicide. In this study attempts were made to get the right concentration in killing larvae af Aedes aegypti. The study conducted trials using Copper solution concentration of 0, 30 mg/L to 1,5 mg/L and to replicate as much as three times. The trial required 39 containers, each containing 250 ml solution of Copper in various concentrations, and 3 containers as a control group that contains only distilled water. Effectiveness was measured by caculating LC50 of Copper, that is concentrations that produce 50% mortality of larvae, were attempted. The result showed that the number of dead larvae was as much as 61,11% at a concentration of 0,80% mg/L and as many as 46,67% dead at a concentration of 0,7 mg/L. The caculation pointed to a concentration of LC50 as 0,723 mg/L. Other than that, at concentration of 1,40 mg/L the number of dead larvae was 97,14%. Based on these observations the study recommend the use of Copper wire at doses that resulted in a concentration af at least 0,80 mg/L in water go prevent the growth of and kill larvae of Aedes aegypti.
