Abstract
Masalah yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya status kebersihan gigi dan mulut santri pondok pesantren “UNIQ” Tombo Ati Surabaya membuat peneliti ingin meneliti lebih lanjut tentang gambaran pengetahuan santri tentang kebersihan gigi dan mulut di Pondok Pesantren “UNIQ” Tombo Ati Petukangan Surabaya tahun 2010 dengan tujuan untuk mengukur pengetahuan santri tentang cara menyikat gigi yang benar, frekuensi dan waktu menyikat gigi yang benar, akibat jika tidak memelihara kebersihan gigi dan mulut dan makanan yang berpengaruh terhadap kebersihan gigi dan mulut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah deskriptif. Dan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah pengetahuan santri tentang cara menyikat gigi yang benar termasuk dalam ketegori sedang (49,5%), pengetahuan santri tentang frekuensi menggosok gigi yang benar termasuk kategori kurang (31,1%), pengetahuan santri tentang akibat jika tidak menjaga kebersihan gigi dan mulut termasuk kategori sedang (45,7%), pengetahuan santri tentang makanan yang berpengaruh terhadap kebersihan gigi dan mulut termasuk dalam kategori sedang (54,5%).
