Abstract
Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah terbentuknya plak gigi pada Mahasiswa DIII Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi semester 1 kelas A. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan efektifitas antara mengkonsumsi buah strawberry dan permen karet yang mengandung xylitol dalam menurunkan nilai indeks plak gigi pada Mahasiswa DIII Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Semester 1 kelas A. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen postest only design. Jumlah sasaran dalam penelitian ini adalah 40 mahasiswa. Metode pengumpulan datanya dengan menggunakan penilaian tentang debris indeks dengan menggunakan PHP yang termasuk data primer. Teknik analisa yang digunakan adalah uji Two Independent Samples Test yaitu mann – whitney. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa mengkonsumsi permen karet xylitol lebih efektif dalam menurunkan nilai indeks plak gigi dari pada mengkonsumsi buah strawberry.
